An underlying premise of my work is the belief that within each of us lies a Supreme or Divine Consciousness. I see my work as a means of helping people cultivate a steady state of awareness and appreciation of that Consciousness, leading them to a recognition of the truth and beauty of who they are ... all leading to a sustainably peace-filled life. The work often unfolds with my clients coming to greater acceptance of themselves and a stronger commitment to protect their inner state. My approach is to call on my skills and training in self-acceptance training, non-violent communication, spiritual technology, and ZPoint Process. I have been blessed with great teachers. It is due to their generosity, talent and understanding of the human condition that I am able to serve others with confidence, competence and grace. My work is informed by my study with them and their influence in my professional development. It was my great good fortune to study Self Acceptance Training (SAT) with Dick Olney, M.A. for several years. Dick defined self acceptance training as the “experiencing of oneself in any given moment without the inhibition of self criticism, self evaluation, or self judgment.” The depth of his work became the foundation of how I work with people. Basic principles of Dick’s teachings include the understanding that our real self, our living self is not an object, but a process therefore the goal of Self Acceptance is not a final goal, but can only be realized in an on-going basis. Primarily, Dick was the first person who taught me to infuse the work of helping people with the understanding that separateness is an illusion. These principles formed a solid foundation for the practice of Self Acceptance Training that formed an umbrella under which Gestalt Therapy, Hypnosis, Eidetic Imagery, reading of poetry, singing, drumming were the basis of elaborate creativity and lasting change. Another influential teacher has been Marshall Rosenberg, Ph.D. Marshall is the founder of non-violent communication. It is an approach to being with yourself and others from the space of empathy and respect. It puts into practice fundamental teachings from many spiritual paths that recognize that there is divinity in each individual. Marshall’s work is grounded in the masterful teachings of Carl Rogers. Though I spent only a short time with Marshall, his work continues to inform my own. More recently, I have been blessed to begin my training with Zivorad Mihajlovic Slavinski, a clinical psychologist from Belgrade, Yugoslavia. Zivorad is the founder of spiritual technology. One of the primary techniques of spiritual technology is PEAT Processing. PEAT Processing is a form of personal development work that is grounded in rich spiritual teachings along with solid psychotherapeutic principles. These techniques serve to neutralize and integrate polarities through which we experience a dualistic world. In this way, an amazing and awesome result is the ensuing freedom from the ego’s automatic response to familiar situations. The techniques draw on the emerging technology of meridian therapies and integrate time-tested psychotherapeutic principles with universal spiritual teachings. In addition to the those mentioned above, I also want to acknowledge the generosity and expertise of the following teachers: Cory Hammond, Ph.D, Mary Goulding, L.C.S.W., Robert Goulding, M.D., John McNeel, Ph.D., Jae Brainard, L.C.S.W., Gary Craig and Karen Gould.
